One of soul music's most iconic voices makes an extremely welcome return to the marketplace. 71 year old Ronald Isley is truly a lving legend, having been making music for over 50 years. For most of this time he has been the lead singer of The Isley Brothers, the soul funk family unit who have churned out several timeless classics such as 'Who's That Lady', 'For The Love Of You', 'Summer Breeze' and 'This Old Heart Of Mine'.

In recent years Isley has been releasing solo albums, in some cases adopting a different persona as a gangster type streetwise dude called 'Mr Biggs'. In all honesty I was never a fan of this character and always felt that Ron Isley's immense talent did not need to venture down this avenue. 'Mr Biggs' did however garner much popularity among his younger audience and sold some records, so what do I know?!! Me, I far preferrred the collaboration made between Isley and the famous composer Burt Bacharach, when in 2003 they released a special project called 'Isley Meets Bacharach'. This album involved Ron Isley showcasing his own interpretations of some of Bacharach biggest hit songs including 'A House Is Not A Home', 'Anyone Who Had A Heart', 'The Look Of Love' and 'Close To You', all lovingy produced by the pop master, Burt Bacharach. To my knowledge not a big selling album, but a record worth seeking out if you love those 60's sounding lush ballads, and of course Mr Isley taking all the magical elements and heading straight to soulsville.

Now in 2013 word reaches us that Ron Isley is getting ready to release another solo album, this time  on eOne Music. Any word of real soul heading our way always brings joy.The first single from the album to be given the light of day is a real smoocher of a slow jam called 'Dinner And A Movie'. You have a chance to listen to the track right here.
