Back in July hip hop superstar and business mogul Jay Z  invited guests and spectators to The Pace Gallery in New York City where he was going to film the video for a song called 'Picasso Baby', a cut from his new album, 'Magna Carta Holy Grail'. As you can imagine once the word went out, there was an immediate roadblock at the prestigious art venue. What everyone who was lucky enough to attend saw was the rapper perform the track for six straight hours. During this time he included some of the visitors in the video and some stars made cameo appearences including Rosie Perez, Taraji P. Henson, Alan Cumming and Fab 5 Freddy.

'Picasso Baby' was filmed as a 10 minute performance art piece and directed by Mark Romanek. Talking about the project, Jay Z said "Concerts are pretty much performance art, but the venue change. Just by nature the performances changes. You're in a smaller venue, it's a bit more intimate, so you get to feel the energy of the people."

The short film received it's premiere last Friday on the US cable channel HBO. After it's screening several people went to Twitter to voice their love for this latest venture from the innovative Brooklyn-born artist.

just watched the video and it's good... but its not its not the Jay-Z that he once was. I've got the new album and am disappointed to say, its not an album I will remember a year from now. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Jay-Z and in parts of the album I hear a glimpse of his genius. but on the whole I was a little disappointed with the album... Who knows it may grow on me.
